Voluteer oppurtunities for UCP

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY

UCP offers three different fun filled camps for children 6-21 years old throughout the year, with the support of United Way. We need volunteers to help with our camps.

RECREATIONAL CAMP
Volunteers are paired one-on-one with a camper with a disability. Camp is a unique social opportunity for campers and attendees enjoy crafts, swimming, interacting with special guests and meet new friends. The volunteer “Buddy” is a constant companion throughout camp for all activities. This three-day, two-night camp is the only one of its kind in central Illinois. This camp takes place overnight! UCP Recreational Camp is held in two sessions, one for campers 6-13 years and another for campers 14-21 years at the Lake Springfield Christian Assembly Campground. This year, camp will be held starting at 7:30 A.M. on June 1st, and end on June 3rd at 11:00 A.M. for campers’ ages 6-13. Campers’ ages 14-21 will come to camp on June 3rd at 6:00 P.M. and leave camp on June 5th at 4:00 P.M.

BOUNDLESS BUNCH
Volunteers are paired with a child, who has a disability and accompany that child throughout the day at camp. As the campers renew friendships, participate in craft activities, utilize the UCP computer lab and go into the community on field trips, the volunteer is a constant companion for the camper. Field trips will be educational and recreational including visits to historical sites, behind the scenes tours of their favorite stores and bowling.

A volunteer can sign up for just one week or all summer. Boundless Bunch meets at the UCP center for students 6-21 years old who have any type of disability. This year, camp will run from June 15th – August 7th. Camp runs Monday thru Friday from 8:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.

COMPUTER CAMP
Volunteers work with youth ages 6 to 12 years old who are fascinated by the computer. This year camp will be held on August 10th, 11th, and 12th. Computer camp runs from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., students are invited to camp to try out the latest software in UCP’s computer lab, go on field trips, try their hand at crafts and renew friendships of years past all with the accompaniment of a volunteer.
